FoNR HELP WITH TRAINING FACILITIES
The Newport RFC team benefit from having an excellent management and coaching structure supporting them that look after their needs during the intensive training sessions held throughout the year. Whilst a lot of what is done happens at Rodney Parade the coaches like to move the training around to different environments depending on the training requirements and also the weather conditions. Llanwern High School in Newport is a brand new comprehensive school with excellent classroom and outdoor facilities. Newport RFC train there throughout the season and make use of the gymnasium, conference rooms, grass and artificial surface pitches. It really is a superb facility. To allow this arrangement to be put in place The Friends of Newport Rugby Trust provided a four figure sum to help fund the hire of the venue and were delighted to be able to do so. Head Coach Craig Warlow quoted, "Once again FoNR have come up with the financial backing to allow us as coaches to provide the best training facilities for our players. Llanwern High school is a first class environment to develop our skills both as individuals and as a team. We are pleased that we can share the school with the students and hope to continue this arrangement for many years to come." Kevin Jarvis |
