Malpas Park School Debut at Rodney Parade

A visit to the Rodney parade Shop will reveal one or two new occupants, one of which is a Dragon designed and decorated by children from Malpas Park Junior School. As such it was thought to be a good idea for them to be guests of the Trust at Rodney Parade. Hopefully this will be the first of many visits from the school.

First the children participated in a training session which was joined by Newport's walking wounded. Mike Poole, Jamie Tibbs and Dan Watchurst helped out with some useful training tips in what is becoming a very popular new project . Following that, they were taken down to the players tunnel to form the now traditional Guard of Honour. First, there was a meeting of captains as Alex Jones and the Malpas team captain were photographed together.

After the players of both Newport and Bedwas took to the pitch, the children ran across the famous turf to watch the match. Malpas proved to be the sixteenth man for Newport as after a poor start they fought back to pip Bedwas by a point to the sound of much cheering from the children.
